This the poster advertising the new film. The colours used are very dark and mysterious which could show its moved on from being a typical childrens film, and like the characters the film has grown up. The quote ' The End begins' is powerful and draws the audience in as to what actually happens in the film. Although not much is revealed as to what the story line is the audience already knows it should be good as the other films were successful.

Harry Potter Merchandise

Harry Potter is on the front of Entertainment Weekly which is a major boost in promoting 'The Deathly Hallows Part-1'. As its on the front even people who dont buy the magazine will be able to see the advertisement of the film. Also as it made it to the front cover it means its important, otherwise it wouldnt be there so makes it more of a must see film.
Harry Potter Merchandise
Having a t-shirt merchandise can become a good idea as the person who wears it Is also advertising for the film. It is mainly targeted at boys as its dark colours and girls aren’t likely to wear it. It’s probably aimed at an older audience due to the writing and dark colours aren’t very childlike.
This is Gryffindor’s letter opener which would relate to an older audience as you would use it in an office. This shows that Harry Potter has a wide range of audiences and isn’t such a kid’s film as it was first portrayed to be. Having Gryffindor’s letter opener makes it seem realistic to the person who buys it can become the character.
This bag is aimed at girls and introduces another audience as it relates to girls as well. The background of the bag is Hogwarts which is immediately associated with Harry Potter, but it still kept to the dark eerie concept to show that Deathly Hallows is the darkest of the films so far. Another point is that Harry Potter could be more a boys film so they tried to reach out to the girl audience by bringing out a bag.
This Deathly Hallows pendant is a symbol to represent the three magical objects the Elder wand, resurrection stone and cloak of invisibility this is targeted at big fans who follow the film as others wouldn’t know what it symbolises.
This puzzle features exclusive pictures from the new film so gives the audience a sneak preview of what could happen in the film. Its targeted at a younger audience as it’s a puzzle as Christmas is coming up could be a perfect present for the stocking. They targeted it at a younger audience as most of the children who watched the first Harry Potter have grown up now so are still trying to include a younger audience.

Preliminary sequence
As a group we created a preliminary sequence so we could get used to working with each other and practice different camera angles. This activity was a kind of warm up and practice for our real film. I felt it helped alot as we were able to practice with the camera and was able to see what worked well and what didn't. We experimented with a range of camera angles such as over the shoulder shots, panning shot, zoom and close ups. As a group we used this as a fun activity and acted out a scene were me and Dan had an arguement ( match on action shot), although our acting is bad we tried to focus on our skills with the camera instead. When filimg we realised our strength was filming and editing and not acting and we decided to develop our strengths and not focus on performing something that wouldn't come across believeable.
When we came to editing it we all worked as a group and included music when Dan storms out the door and used the effect of black and white as we thought it was unique and effective. Overall I enjoyed filiming the sequence and look forward to working on our main project our film.

Crane shot- this clip from desperate housewives shows the lane they live in and gives an aerial view and establishes location. It’s also the first ever episode so it shows the audience where everything is set. Its used when the camera itself moves up or down and is usually placed higher above the ground.

Crash zoom shot- this is an example where the camera is zoomed in to the focus of the clip and then quickly zooms out to show the full scene. The focused is pulled away making the object appear closer or further away. When it zooms out its done very fast.

Whip pan- this is a whip pan shot where a sudden fast pan flashes past to go to another angle. The camera is focused on two people and then suddenly switches to the gate to focus on that it also blurs while moving which could create a confusing twist.

Tracking shot- this is a perfect example of a tracking shot from the classic film Pulp fiction. The camera is moving itself towards the man following him throughout the clip. Tracking shot is usually used when the camera is running along a small track.

Worms eye view- this is a worms eye view as you child is coming towards the camera and the camera is laid down flat on the slide. The angle is on the lowest point of the ground to emphasise how big the other objects are makes the baby seem powerful as the angle is also looking upwards.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V1uE1-wTPs
Low angle shot- this clip shows high and low angle shots to portray status. The nurse has a low angle shot to make her seem more powerful and important. The man has a high angle shot to make him seem small and vulnerable. This helps the audience user stand there characters and status.

sherlock holmes
Sherlock Holmes
My personal view on the film was it was very clever and sophisticated. Through the camera angles and techniques used throughout the film such as the music, colour and lighting its clear to tell a lot of effort was put into the making. Therefore to fully understand the concept of the film you have to sit down and concentrate it isn’t a light hearted film and at times can become confusing. Due to this it makes the film become very adventurous and interesting and kept me on my toes and in suspense. A range of different special effects where used making the film more enjoyable and added more of a thrill to the ending scenes in particular.
Sherlock Holmes is directed by Guy Ritchie, it was released on the 26th December 2009. It has been rewarded two Oscars and many great reviews the film was a great success. Robert Downey Jr played the role of Sherlock while Jude law played his side kick as Dr John Watson. They both played convincing roles and made the film seem more realistic.
Another original idea is that the film is set in the Victorian times which make it stand out from other films that are set in modern times. Due to it being set in olden times it becomes relatable to older generations it has a wide range of audiences as younger people would enjoy it as well. Although the downside is that because Its set in olden times the lighting can be quite dark and dull at times making it harder to see in certain scenes. Over all I would say I quite enjoyed the film considering Its not my taste. I would recommend it to people due to the fact Its an intelligent and interesting film.
